Welcome to the Remer Family Tree website. This site is dedicated to finding past and present relatives of Frederick Remer and Lydia (Penneckerstein) Remer. |
Welcome
Welcome, my name is Jennie Remer. I am the great-granddaughter of Frederick and Lydia Remer (also I am the granddaughter to Rheinhold, and daughter to Drew). I have published this website in hopes to find any broken links in my family's history. Since my father's death in 2004, I have learned that life means so much more when you have family to share it with. Some of the information may be sketchy at best, but I have worked on trying to publish only truth and not so much of the "probably's". If you have any information that may help, please email me. I apologize for the ads, but it seems worth it since I don't have to pay for the space. (insert laugh here) A little background Frederick and Lydia were married and lived in Saumorj, Russia until 1913. When the couple came to America, they had their two oldest children with them (Frederick Jr. and Alexander). The couple settled in Saginaw, Michigan and their family continued to grow with 8 more children (Jacob, Otilis, David, Edward, Rheinhold, Albertina, Leonard and John). Present Obstacles 1. When researching the family line, a lot of questions arose on what the family last name really is. According to the passenger records on the S.S. Cincinnati (from Hamburg to Boston, MA 1913) Frederick and Lydia's last name was Romer. 2. Saumorj, Russia is said to be a German settlement along the Volga River. Though after much reconstruction of the Soviet Union (Russia), most of the older Volga-German towns were either renamed or destroyed. There is no current record of Saumorj, Russia, or of Taloski, Russia (town where Frederick was born). 3. The couple's first child was John, born in 1904. He was not on the passenger list of the S.S. Cincinnati, he had to have died in Russia. There has been no other information on him. |
